In designing the Subiaco Christmas Banners, the artist was inspired by he medieval stained glass windows in the small hill-top Moncontour, a village not unlike our own namesake town of Subiaco in Italy. This recalls the beginnings of our SUBIACO, named after St Benedict's original monastery in the hills east of Rome by the missionary monks who came to Perth in 1846, and hints at migration patterns of settlement in Western Australia. Laura's original paintings, the basis of her banner designs, are available for purchase. The full collection is here below. A selection of these paintings is on show at the new and delightful "SCINTILLA ACCESSORIES AND INTERIORS" at the top of Rokeby Road (nearly opposite the Post Office) in Subiaco. All visitors and enquiries are welcome.
